Module 1: Human Rights and Discrimination

Section Overview
In this module, we aim to establish a foundation: all people have equal rights – yet in practice, many experience exclusion and discrimination. We therefore begin with an introduction to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and explain why it is also relevant in the everyday context of sport.

Through videos featuring personal stories and a worksheet on hostile attitudes toward others, discrimination becomes tangible. We demonstrate the different forms of discrimination and how they can manifest in swimming and aquatic sports.

Finally, we invite you to engage in self-reflection: What attitudes, experiences, and possible barriers do I myself bring with me?

Overall, this module is designed to convey knowledge, raise awareness of discrimination, and open perspectives on diversity in sport.
